Fads and Trends
The town of Hillsboro could not help but join Reverend Brown's bandwagon to crucify Bert Cates as an "evil-utionist." What is it about human nature that makes people join in, sometimes blindly, to current fads and fashions. Who are the trendsetters and who are the trendfollowers? Which are YOU? Is it ok or harmless to follow SOME trends? Which? When does it become dangerous?

most people like to follow the crowd in this case. if you dont then there is the fear of people mocking you or not accepting you. everyone wants or needs to feel accepted its just the way some people are. there are also the people who dont follow others, who arent afraid of being mocked.
Bandwagoning is a process that can hinder as well as strengthen truth. The reson for this is due to pre conditioned mindsets. Based on our current life situation, along with past and imagined events, we are conditioned to agree or disagree without questioning. Bangwagoning, in the way it was used against Bert Cates, can only occure in loss of a neutral mind. When a neutral mind is lost trends, fashions and so forth become dangerous because they are blind.
The majority of people follow the crowd. It is not always a bad thing, but in some cases it is. There is such thing as peer pressure which apply to some trends. I wouldn't consider myself a follower but i wouldn't consider myself a leader either. I like to wear the latest fashion, and follow the style. I don't try to copy people and wear every outfit they wear. Following trends becomes dangerous when you are following a bad or hurtful trend.
Yes, trends can be alright to follow to some extent. But a lot of trends tend to be life changing which is not good at all. You need to be yourself. It becomes dangerous when people turn from trends to occults. Everyone falls into some trend or another but we have to realize that this is a part of life and not let it become our life.
Following the leader and the rest of the crowd is not a bad thing in some situations. Sometimes people just follow the rest because they fear of not being accepted if they dont. In other situation people dont follow others because they are smart and dont want to be negativelly affected. Like you said it is human nature and we are all different.
I do not consider my self either a leader or a follower. I like to think that I do what is better for me when faced with decisions. I believe that trends can be very harmful even though most are not. Once trends turn into mobs and cults when people are lead into them from peer pressure or bandwagoning bad things can happen. Trends and fads are mostly fun though but can be harmful
Anyone can start a trend and anyone can follow. Not all trends are good though. The heavens-gate people were literally crazy when they decided to join the group. They all were told that a mother space ship was located behind the hail-bop comet and that the only way to get there was to kill themselves. And they all did. They were also not allowed to have any sexual relations and if they felt the urge to, they were to castrate themselves, and 7 people did. Now trends like that are just insane. Also some trends such as drugs like cocaine and heroine are not ideal to follow because they can lead to death or a horrible addiction. I think trends like clothes and music are great to follow. Music gives you an ambition and an emotional boost. Clothing is also a good trend to follow. When some people wear a favorite shirt or a nice pain or pants they have a self-esteem booster. As long as someones life is not at risk, i think any trend is alright to follow.
The one big trend that everyone has and still is following is IPODS. More than half of the kids in school probably own an Ipod. That i would consider as a trendfollower. It is harmless for some trends but one trendthat can harm someone is, well i dont know but they are out there.
If one person is so influential of other people then others will want to join that person. Sometimes clothing and phrases can become a fad because it is the cool thing. The trendsetters are the opole who wear or do something that is considered either out of the ordinary or looks good. A lot of people tend to be trendfollowers because they don't want to be the odd ones out. I am not a trendsetter and i follow some trends but not a lot. A lot of ternds can be harmless but there are trends that can be a little dangerous. One trend could be to join a gang because all of your friends want to or get a certain tattoo that your friends have. It becomes dangerous when it affects and hurts other people.com
If different styles were not copied, trends would no be known as trends. trends hints that a lot of people are doing the same thing. I would not consider myself a follower, but it hard to stay away from all of the trends. i am definately not a leader either. i just like to dress comfortably.

It is human nature for everybody to blend in. When people are different they feel like outcasts, and other people might not treat them the same. Trend following is almost like surviarlship. I am a trend follower. Sometimes trends can be dangerou. For example if a trend is agianst the rules, it is not worth it to follow it.
Alot of people just jump in to things without thinking first. they might just join a group of people because its all their friends and they dont wanna get left out. It is not really a problem unless the cause that tere all for is non violent and reasonable. Unlike the salem witch trials where many inoccent people die for no reason. And as far as I go I could be a leader or a follower depending on the situation.
