Blogging Ideas??
Now that we are finished the persuasive unit, our Do Now's will be geared toward the texts that we are reading; however, you all have such great ideas for discussion questions, we should put one or two on the blog each week in addition to the questions I add. What would be some good discussion topics for the blog? Give several in the comments, or give one and give your comments to your own question. Or do a combination!

I think it would be a good idea to talk about what we would like to change about the school. There are so many opinions that people have regarding the school and things that should be changed. We have alot of ridiculous rules and standards that we have to follow, and it would be really interesting to hear about what people like and/or don't like.
I think we should talk about fads. There are so many all the time. Halo 3 has just come out and so many people are playing even in our school people talk about halo all the time. Or verra brown bags. Last year every girl in the school had one. WE should talk about how and why people get pulled in to follow trends.
I like rich's idea about trends and fads. hes right people do get sucked into them very easily. its almost like being a conformast. (spelling?) people are more or less manipulated by the media by thier marketing ploys about certain products and brand names basicly saying your not cool unless you have one of these.
I agree with Jamie. I think questions about changes in the school is a great discussion question. I think that we should also talk about what teachers aren't very good at teaching or what our opinions are on certain topics that are going on in school. I also think we should talk about political criteria going on in the US such as the presidency or the war in Iraq. I think people should be aware of the government around them and the what is currently going on with the U.S.
I think we should talk about what is going on in the world. Not everyone watches the news and knows what happened in Irag that day that might be very important to when and if this "war" will end. At first the we entered Irag and Baghdad because of the 9/11 attacks. Now we are in it for oil. Many say that the war should end others say we should stay in Irag because of what they believe in and what America is all about.
I think we should talk about different things going on in our school. I agree with Jamie when she talked about rules and such that we must follow. I believe as students we should share our opinions on how things should be ran and move towards bettering the school. If we discuss problems we learn to voice our opinion and create power among students, this power would be the greatest gift to give and any space that would allow such things to happen would be marvelously liberating.
I think we should talk about school, our town, our community, and some of the famous writers that we are going to read about.
In my essay that i did this week i talked about how the schools give too much homework. I talked about how often students will be satying up until 2:00 in the moring doing their homework. This just makes students tired, and creates a lack of intrest in work. I believe that homework does the opposite of help students learn, at least the amount we are given. does anyone else agree?
I would like to talk about the bad things that occur at Mendham such as the Graffiti student relations and the garbage left after lunch. I have seen these thing pile up and it is quite disturbing how often people conduct these acts. I would really like to know what other people think about this topic.
i feel that we shouldnt talk about petty things and get down to big ideas that have lots of oppions. we should talk about religion and the death penalty and anything that sparks up an argument. a blog where everyone agrees on the same idea is boreing while a blog where everyone has their own arguments will be fun and i feel the blog will be more sucessful.
I think that we should post ideas to improve the school. We could come up with a soulution to the much hated prices for food and drinks. We could discuss which teaching styles are more effective. And any other suggestions that would improve our school enviroment.
I believe that atleast once a week we should atleast have ONE current event. And with this even people could freely speak their minds about it, because we are all interested in what others think about our country or whats going on in our world.
