September 11th

Today is September 11th, a day that impacts Americans in a myriad of ways. On 9/11, I was teaching in a high school in Middlesex, the New Jersey county with supposedly the MOST NYC commuters. Many students in my school lost someone: a neighbor, a friend, a family member. How has this event changed what it means to be American? Do you think that because of this event, your life has somehow been affected either specifically or tangentially? Explain.

Since the attacks i have been more aware of what is happening in the world. It has changed the way an American might think. An American now might be more cautious with the people around them. I remember when i was little and it was one or two years after 9/11 i was going on the plane. While waiting for my plane to arrive, i overheard some people talking to the attendant that they were not getting on their plane with suspicious looking Arabs. I'm, not sure but i believe that they had the Arabs not fly with them. True Story, i would not make this stuff up!!!!!!!!!

September 11th was a wake up call to the world not just America. Doesn't it make you wounder what was going on before this event happened. A big question i had is did we really do all that we could do to prevent things like this? Many people i know had family members killed in the attack. My brother was in school in Jersey City at the time of the attacks. It really is mind blowing that the U.S.A. was attacked in such a severe manor. We still have yet to bring the people supposedly responsible for this atrocity to justice ,and waisting lives and money fighting an aimless war.

September 11th was not an event that only affected America, it affected the whole world. This event changes what it's meant to be an American because it showed us that we could be strong and make it through the hardest times. It made us realize that our state was the strongest, which made Americans proud to be an American. Yes, this event has forever changed my life. It is a lot safer to travel because of such tight security that we would not have if Septmeber 11th had not happened.

September 11th changed many american's thoughts about our country. Some people began to criticize our government while some strengthened their patriotism. I think that many people became american heros on september 11th, being the brave people who entered the building and the family and friends of victims. I remeber when the attack first happened and i was scared about my family because they work in NYC but i also remeber the relief when i was picked up at school early by them.

I agree with "salino" that I am more aware about what is going on in the world.I also think that security flowing into the united states is much more serious and they are doing as much as they can to stop it. My grandfather was one of the leading electrical engineers working on the two towers, meaning he directed and worked on all the lighting for every floor in the towers. When the towers fell he was heartbroken. All those years were now wasted in a matter of minutes. A true American you could say are the people who were NOT running from those towers when they fell, but the people who ran towards it. Firefighters, policemen, and everyday people to help save lives of people they did not even know. Not many people can say that they would volunteer to do that. My life has been changed by it because after they fell, i did a project on the two towers. I interviewed my grandfather and he gave me knowledge i did not know about the construction and design plans for them. After that i realized how much work, dedication, and time was put into it, it stuck with me aw that such terroristic people could just attack us without thinking the whole plan through.

Septermeber 11th has changed everyone in some way or another weather we know it or not. I think that if you were old enough to talk you remember the heartach that everyone went though, and exactly where you were when it happened. Since September 11th I have been more active with the news and following up with more about the world. Nobody thought that something like this would ever happen and we are making sure it will never happen again.

September 11th has changed this country in many ways. What used to be an unbreakable society suddenly turned chaotic. The whole would saw how human America really was and knows now that we can bleed. People in this country aswell began to see how a chain of events starting off small and building can create so much change. Such change can be noted as the Patriot Acts and other new laws that permit questionable investigation and more then questionable invasiveness. Though we suffer some side effects thing are more in scale to the happenings of the world and I think it was necessary to adapt in the way we did.

September 11 affected everybody and anybody. there is no way you can go throughout today without finding something that was affected from 9/11. parents teach there kids not to trust anyone. neigbors are watching neighbors that they known for years to see if there doing anything suspiciously. it is alot harder to change anything official like a passport/birth certificate now after 9/11 you need to bring in lots and lots of identification so that the government knows that you are truly you and not some guy hired to blow himself up. if you just take a step back and look at what we came from as a society. i went from being able to go outside any time i wanted to tell my mom im going to the park and leave and come home before 6. after 9/11 if i wanted to go anywhere i had to make shure one of my parents had a eye on me. now that the parents are watching there kids soo closely there finding every problem with the child soo the child at the age of five will be treated with autism while the kid being 5 is just acting they way a 5 year old is suppost to act.

On September 11th, i was in the 5th grade, in science class. I remember my teacher being pulled out of the room by the principal and coming back into the room crying. September 11th has changed my life in one way. I do not take anybody i care deeply about for granted. One of my neighbors (who was also in 5th grade) found out her father had been killed on 9/11. I remember telling my Mom that i wanted to give her a gift because seeing her cry everyday hurt me.

It means that we judge people on how they look. You have to look a certain way to look like an american. Yes, people think of me differently than the average american because of my ethnicity. It has not been greatly affected but to some people with certain ethnicities it has changed their lives in some way

This event changed everyboddy in america, at least for a period of time. People are starting to forget how terroism effected our country. Nobody seems proud to live in this country. I feel like all the enthusiasim has been sucked out of everyone.
