The Psychedelic 60's

Author Ken Kesey is well-known for his role--both personal and literary-- in the cultural revolution in America that was "the 60's." Mrs. O was born to hippie artists in 1966. Yeah, I'm that old. :-) Check out this 60's link and all the interesting info on it. Look on the site and comment in any way you would like based on what you learn about Ken Kesey or any other interesting info about the time period. http://www.lib.virginia.edu/small/exhibits/sixties/

The 60's was a beautiful decade. There was a new wave of young people expressing their way of life and how they wanted to live it. Ken Kesey was known to have used substances such as LSD, Psilocybin, Mescaline and DMT as a part of a CIA funded experiments. Ken Kesey worked at a veterans hospital on night shifts where Kesey would take LSD during work. It is said that the combination of LSD and Kesey's job that inspired him to write 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'.

The 60's was a great time period. The cultural products alone made it one of the most important decades in american history. The British Invasion created bands such as the beatles and the rolling stones, who still have major impact on life today. The superbowl was first held in the 60's. Also the moon landing was held in 1969. Their was so much going on in all sorts of life from music to movies to technology which is what makes the 60's one of the best decades in american history.

I think the sixties is a remarkable period in time. It set the basics for many things, epsecially music. Alot of extrodinary artists came from this time period and have influenced musical bands of today. Even though some bands such as Grateful Dead influenced substance abuse at concerts, they still brought wonderful music and influenced many others.

The 60's brought much to America. Music, Hippies, Drugs, are the most thought about influences of the 60's. The music went from the fiftys do-wap to the 60's rock and roll such as The Beatles, and The Monkeys. The hippies were brought by bands like this. Living in communes following "The Band". The 60's changed America greatly with its music.

The 60's was a life changing and relaxed period. It was the hippie era and not many people cared about anything. Whenever i think of the 60's i think of drugs, alcohol, and Woodstock. Woodstock is one of the biggest concerts ever held. It went on for days and about 1/2 a million showed up. The reason i think of the 60's as a drug era is because thats when alot of the major drugs came into play. LSD was introduced and people started getting hooked. It brought a new type of music and lifestyle to the American people.

The sixties was a time with drugs sex and rock and roll but this time era wasn't all about the music. one of Americas most beloved hero, John F. Kennedy was assassinated. the Vietnam war was going on and the u.s government employed the "draft" The president following JFK Lyndon B. Johnson made the war even worse by throwing more gas in the fire. (by gas i mean troops and by fire i mean Vietnam) the sixties is mostly known for the "hippies" and drugs and music but it seems the further and further we get from the sixties the less we remember that this era wasn't all "psychedelic flowers". they had the Kent state shootings. the inspirational speakers Martian Luther and Malcolm x were Assassinated also. it seemed that anyone that opposed the government in any way some how "disappeared".
