Casting Call

If you were to actually be cast in a role in the stage version of Inherit the Wind, which character would you be most suited to play? Are you most like Bertram Cates, living a fairly normal life but willing to stand up for what you believe in no matter the cost? Are you most like Hornbeck, interested mostly in observing situations and then passing the information on to anyone who will listen? Are you like Drummond, with a strong analytical mind able to think on your feet and work things out logically and cleverly. Or are you one of the townspeople, easily swayed by what others think? Choose ANY character from the play to discuss and compare with your own personality.

I am not sure which character I best suit but I can say that i would probably most enjoy playing Drummond. He might be my favorite character of the play. He has a great roll in the play, and might just be the most fun to act out. His personality is fun, logical, and seems to be able to work around problems. It might take him some time but he will find a way around. THis is why i think it would be the best roll to play.

The character that I think I would be most suited to play is hornbeck because he is pretty laid back and observes with a critical eye but does not really say much. I see him as somebody who knows what is going on but, is waiting for his moment to speak and it will be an important moment.

i agree with richard. i am not shure what character i would be. i think i may be hornbeck because i do like listening and telling people whats going on. but i would not want to be someone like drummond because he has a huge role and i dont feel like i would be able to fill that much of a role.

Like Frank the character I would bet suit would be Hornbeck. I do not like to rub my noise in bussiness that i do not belong in, especially if I could get in trouble. I do not like to make waves, I guess i just like to watch them.

I would have to say cates because i do live a fairly normal life. But if for some reason if something I believed in was challanged I would stand up and protest. I would stand up for what i believe in and face what ever penalties I had to face fo what I believe in.

If i were given a choice i would choose to be Cates. I would try to change the "world" or at least the way people look at it no matter what it takes. Cates thaught evolution in his class even though he probably knew that he will most likely be accused and sent on trial. Now a days no one would care as much if someone else will teach evolution. Sometimes we have to sacrifice ourselves to achieve or change something even if it is almost impossible to achieve.

If i were to play a role in the Inherit the Wind play, i feel as if my characteristics match closets with Bert Cates. As said, Cates has a fairly normal life but is willing to stand up for anything he believes in. I have a fairly normal life, but if i believe in something, i will stand up for it.

I find Tommy's comment quite humorous. His statement about the waves was funny enough to read a couple times. I can probably see tommy being Hornbeck in a play of I.T.W. So tommy go for it and audition your heart out.
