I havent really read any of these banned books, except for one of the harry potter books and to kill a mocking bird. but i could see why some of the books would be banned having names like "The New Joy of Gay Sex" and other books like "The Terrorist" may be offensive in the public eye. I believe that censsorship in books is appropriate because books containing sexual content should'nt be avalible to young readers.

Yes, i have read some of these books such as The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Harry Potter, Of Mice and Men, many Goosebumps, Where's Waldo, Lord of the Flies, and The outsiders. I am surprised to see these books on here but at the same time I can understand why they are on this list. There are inappropriate parts in the books. But I still believe that no book should be censored or banned. It is a freedom that should never be taken away.

Looking over the list I have read (and enjoyed) several of the banned books. The books i have read and enjoyed were Cather in the Rye, and Of Mice and Men. I have also not even heard of some of the others such as Heather has Two Mommies and Where Did I Come From? I am not sure that even now that I know these books exists that I am intrested in reading them, but i do like having the freedom to choose the books to read expecially since Cather in Rye is one of the best books In have ever read.

The only book i ever read in this selection was Lord of the Flies and that was forced on me. most of the titles dont suprise me since they are a bit dicey in the subject. and the others are controversial in topic so its understandable why they are in this selection.

I have only read 4 books on that list of 100. Many of the books are surprising to me because you i did not think that is some countries it would be banned, especially a "where's Waldo" book. Some books are not appropriate for all children or some students. For example the book "What is happening to my body, A Book for Boys: A Growing-Up Guide for Parents & Sons" is not appropriate for any child in school. Its a parents decision to allow their children to become aware of whats happening. Most of the books are in the selection for a distinct reason. In 8th grade i had to read "My brother Sam is dead" and it talked about a revolutionary war family. there were 2 sons in the family and one got shot by a red coat. The other brother then began going through mental changes and thought processes that may be disturbing to some people.

Although I am familiar with many of those books there are a small ammount in which I have read. Books such as 'A Wrinkle In Time', 'The Giver', and 'Lord of The Flies' are books partially read however fully enjoyed. The titles do not suprise me. What ever happened to "do not judge a book by its cover"? I feel it is most important to allow the expression of all writting. The second that you allow someone to censor your information you no longer know entire freedom. In no well desired situations would censorship exists.

When i was younger, i read practically all of the goosebumps books. It is absolutely ridiculous that the goosebumps series is on the banned book list. Those books were meant for young children in elementary school, it helped us to create an imagination. There are certain times when censorship on books is important, depending on the reading material. The goosebumps series should not be on the banned book list.

Most of those books dont seem to be familiar to me except one that i've read last year, which is Huckleberry Finn. None of those titles surprised me but there were some that made me think, such as Sex education by Jenny Davis, and Girls and sex Education by Warden Pomeroy. In my opinion books like these should be available to everyone. The reason is because we're all cencerned about our health or at least most of the people i khow are. Sex plays a huge role in our health and we dont need to be shy about it or kept away from reading books or articles which involve this information. Those people who want to live healthy lives must know about sex and how to deal with it.

Yes, i have read a couple of these books from banned books. I have read The Chocolate War, and Lord of the Flies. Funny thing is, i read both books for school. Some of the titles on this list do surprise me, such as 'Girls and sex' by Wardell Pomeroy, and 'Heather Has Two Mommies' by Leslea Newman. Both of those titles are innappropriate and would not expect a book to be titled like that. Just from looking at those titles it is appropriate to censor some books. Children should not be able to access any of these books that may be bad for them to read.

I have read seven of these "banned books." I really liked every book that I have read that has made this list. I was surprised by number fifty-one A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein. This was a great book of poetry that I have loved for years and I have no idea how or why it made this list. I understand why some of these books were banned because they dealt with very serous topic and some are very moving and inspirational. Censoring book that deal a lot with sex should be censored to a point having very adult topics around a young generation cause have detrimental effects on there mental growth as a person. I situations such as that censorship is a good thing.

i have read many of these books and most of these books are not worthy of being banned. i feel that censorship of books is good in the examples of the antarchist cookbook where it tells people how to make explosives with simple household items. thoes types of books should be banned not harry potter, or the choclate war.

I think, in some cases, it is right to ban or censor some books. Even though America has the freedom of speach and press, some authors speak to freely about this and abuse those rights. Exactly what Andrew said, those books speak a little to much about information. Also if a younger kid was searching the book shelves and came upon one of these books they would take it as a joke and pick up the book and start reading it. This would put bad images into their mind which would not be good. Then your younger civilization will grow up having been influenced by the wrong. So i agree that to ban books might be nessesary in some cases.

The only book that i have read was Lord of the Flies, Mark and I were inthe same English Class when we had to read it. I agree wit Andrew the titles can offend a certain race, religion, or sexuality. I think there are situations in which they are a ppropriate, but only if they categorize it by age.

I have read a couple of these books, such as "The Lord of the Flies", and "My Brother Sam is Dead". Most of these books do suprise me because the things they are banned for are things you see all the time on T.V. like violence and sex. Yes their are situtations where books should be banned. A book should not be allowed to promote Law breaking.
