The River as Sanctuary

It seems that whenever Huck and Jim are on the river, they feel a sense of freedom and peace. Whenever they go ashore, they must face the conflicts and headaches that our complex civilization naturally brings about. Where is your "sanctuary"? In what way(s) do you escape from the conflicts and headaches that daily life brings you? What gives you that sense of freedom and peace that the river provides for Jim and Huck? Be sure to give SPECIFIC examples and edit your work in order to earn full credit.

When ever I need to escape from the real world to get peace and quite I watch televison. I also In the summer like to go outside in my backyard and just watch the clouds go by. A lot of the time I find it hard to find my own sancuary.

My sanctuary is everywhere and my sanctuary is not mine. When life get a twist you need to step back and let things go by like a cloud. In letting things go by I find sanctuary. Before I go to sleep I find this to be the easiest, there is no expectation, no one watching, no where to go. I can see how the river can let it all go by.

Being with friends is my sanctuary for many reasons. First reason, if you have a problem a good friend to confide in is always an out. It relieves stress and also you know that they'll be able to relate to you. Secondly, if your with someone you like, its going to be easy to stay off the topic that is making your conflicts occur.

I like to spend time in my basement which is a space that is pretty secluded from family traffic. I usually just close the door to escape from any one - but my family usually never gets in my space, too much. When I am down there, I watch television, spend time on the computer, and talk on the phone. I usually just veg, and it's pretty relaxing. There's also some gym equipment down there, and if I am really stressed, I work out. By the time I am done, what ever is stressing me out, doesn't seem so huge of a deal. I guess I am pretty lucky to have a place like that to myself. My basement is what I would call the closest to a sanctuary I would know about.

My sanctuary is now my car. It used to be my room where i could get away from my family when needed. But now when i have to i can just drive away. Go somewhere peaceful to think. Sometimes i just like to drive and listen to music while i gather my thoughts.

A place that helps me escape from all the stress and conflicts in the everyday life is probably my room. Up in there I watch TV, text, talk on the phone or just surf the web. My room is like my own little world. I do what I want and everything is set up in the way I want it. When I'm in my room i just forget about all the stress and the outside problems. I also like to listen to music or take a nap in these situations.

When i feel the need to escape from the real world, and my daily conflicts i like to spend my time either in my bedroom listening to music, or go for a walk through patriots path being its close to my house, or for a little drive being i now have my liscence. If my conflicts are at home, and i dont feel like going for a walk, i usually go to my friends house where they treat me as if im part of the family and i feel as if im at home. ontop of that, my friend has been there for me since 1st grade and she has helped me through my hardest times.

My sanctuary is my basement usually. When i go down there, i either plug in my guitar, turn up the amp really loud and just play, or ill just plug my ipod in and listen to it through my speakers, or ill just sit down there and watch tv, to get away from all the problems.

When i need to escape from the real world i listen to music or drive around. Being with my friends, wherever we are, is also my sanctuary. There is no way anybody can bother me while I'm listening to my favorite music or just chilling out.
