Lies, Lies, Lies

In Huck Finn, Huck tells many lies; some would say he does so in order to survive. Where do you draw the line with lies? Are some lies morally or ethically acceptable? Be sure to give SPECIFIC examples and edit your work in order to earn full credit.

I do not lie a lot, because it is one of my pet peeves when other people lie. When I do lie though it is usally to get myself out of trouble. I think doing this is justified under the right circumstances.

I like tommy boy do not lie to often. I find lying to really just hold you down and make things more painful in the long run. I draw the line when I am mentally aware that lying will make things harder in the end. I actually seem to lie when I am embarassed about something and I, for some reason, do not want someone knowing something.

lol. Well i dont know about tom or satori but everybody lies. No matter what everyone lies in one way or another. I think Huck lies for good reasons. He ran away from home and he does not want to return so he lies to stay on the adventure with Jim. The only time i would draw the line with lies is if the lies become extremely far fetched and if it repeats without the person caring or knowing.

I think a person who lies all the time probably has moral issues, but I also think some lies are ethical and moral. Lies, like a lot of things, have to be seen in the situation they exist. It depends on the circumstances and the degree of the lie. If someone lies about taking the ast pack of gum on the kitchen counter, it isn't the same as lying about
taking money out of his mother's wallet. The first is just not the
same as the second. I guess that's the difference between a white lie and big lie. Anyone who lies all the time, though, has serious problems with morality and ethics.

I think that lieing is apart of life. Everyone does it whether it is a little white lie to make their friends feel better or a big one to stay out of trouble. But lieing is bad when it is about something serious like if it harms someone. But if it is a little white lie saying you dont look fat in that dress its harmless.

I agree with nzallblack06 because everyone lies, and none of us are perfect. I mean it's okay to lie once in a while but not too often. In my opinion the more you lie, the more trouble you get yourself into. Unless everyone gets over it and forgets about all the lies you told them. But once they find out how many lies you told them you are in more trouble than if you were if you didn't lie, even if you had to. For instance if Huck didn't run away he wouldn't have to lie to anyone about being murdered. Or he could have ran away from Pap but not the rest of the world. He should have just told the police to arrest Pap, and then he would live a normal life without anyone chasing him. Plus he wouldn't have to lie to survive.

Over the years, I have developed not to lie do to being grounded from my parents, and bad stuff happens in the future. In example, I use to lie to my parents saying I had no homework and I just didnt do it and than i started to do bad in school. I have learned from my mistakes. But I do not think lying is niether morally or ethically acceptable, because if you just straight up tell the truth, people like that and that you dont carry stuff out and make it worse.

I believe that everyone does tell lies, even if they say they never do, which, is a lie. Everyone lies to keep away from conflicts, and drama. However, i do believe some lines should be drawn. Huck pretending to be a women in the story was possibly going over board, but it was to help him, Jim and their lives. in that case, yes lieing was the best idea. If the only way to save yourself, or a love one is through a lie, or lies, it is worth it to lie.

I try not to lie a lot. Sometimes little white lies will slip out to my friends if they ask me if they look ugly or if their hair is messed up. I have really screwed things up in my past with lying and it has ruined a few of my relationships with people. I do not think lying is ever acceptable, even if it is a mistake or slips out.
