Storytellers II

Who were the great storytellers of your youth? Was it your mom at bedtime? Your grandad's war stories? Was it Dr. Seuss? What are the books and stories which come to mind as great stories from your childhood? What qualities made these stories stand the test of time in your memory? What stories will you make sure you tell your own children, nieces, nephews, etc?

The great storytellers are in fact the youth. When I was young I would often end up telling stories to my brother and mom before I went to sleep. This being said I am not saying "I am the great storyteller of my youth" I am simply saying the youth in their blissful world have no boundaries, not even to the use and texture of words. Everything seems to me to point back to the youth and I wonder why, maybe it is some information retained, unable to be spoken but creativly understood. That being said I still did enjoy Dr. Seuss, epic whacky tales, I love the writting.

I was not read to as a child and i also did not read as a child. The only time i was told a story was at a family gathering like Christmas or thanksgiving. I would hear about my grandfather talk about his childhood or my dad talk about his teen years. The reason i can remember them is because its just something that you don't want to forget, not necessarily something that you just hear. I want to remember these stories so i can tell my children one day about what their grandfather was like growing up. I would tell my children and nieces and nephews about my childhood, teen years, and eventually someone grown up experiences that i have come across. Nothing negative but positive stories and funny stories.

When i was younger, my grandmother was my favorite story teller. somehow she would always make me laugh. I always remember reading a whole lot of Dr. Suess. All his Rymes and pictures really fascinated me. When i have children i will definately read them Dr. Seuss. i would also just tell them real stories, about me, the family or just a happy/funny story.

When I was your i had a shelf full of hundreds of books that were either mine, my sister's, my brother's, or my parent's. To me it wasn't the auther of the book it was the person reading it, and this was a lot of the time my mom. She would read to me every night that is why in my eyes my Mom was my greatest story teller.

i never had stories told to me when i was a kid. most of the time during my childhood i was alone at my house. the only storeies i was ever told during my childhood were in school and those i cant remember. i never liked reading books so i dont have feelings one way or another towards any different story writers.

Like a couple said above i do not recall ever being read a story. The one major story from my childhood that i can vividly remember is Dr. Seuss and Disney. They will stand the test of time because for one thing is disney and Dr. Seuss is one of the all-time greastest author. I would probably tell my childen about how life was in the years 2000+.

The great storytellers of my youth were definitely my grandparents. Mostly my grandmother because she always would tell me stories about my father when he was my age. I don't know if my father knows half of her stories but I appreciate her for telling me. My father was very mischievious and always got into innocent trouble with his siblings. It makes me think of my mother and what she might say about me some day to my children.

The great storyteller of my youth was and still in fact is, my Grandmother. She would tell me stories about her childhood and what she endured. The reason i still love hearing her stories are because and the reason i remember the ones told to me when i was a young child is because i love hearing about my family and what she did for fun as a little girl. When i am older and have my own children I'll tell them stories about my childhood and folktales that my Parents and Grandparents told me when i was young.

My great story teller would be my grandfather from my father’s side of the family. He would always tell me and my brother stories of his life in Chile in South America where he grew up. All kinds of crazy stories about some things that you most likely couldn’t get away with in this day and age of let alone in his country.

The great storytellers of my youth were my parents and my grandparents. I remember my mom or grandma telling me stories every night before i went to sleep. My dad and grandpa would always tell me about their youth, how they grew up, and how things were different back then. The most interesting were the stories told to me by my grand parents. The further back in time they went, the more interesting it was. I don't know about any stories but the history of my family is something that i'm probably going to carry on to my kids.
