Freedom of Speech

As we discussed in class, one Puritan was severely punished for writing a pamphlet which voiced opinions against the Church of England. I also told you in class that my ninth graders wrote to Mr. Matyas about how they felt about not having their agendas on the first day of school. Now, I seriously doubt any of those ninth graders will get their noses slit or their ears cut off! If you could choose ANYONE in the world to write a letter to in order to voice a respectful complaint or protest, who would it be and what would you say?

I would write to every person in the world and tell them to wake up. Freedom of speach is as important as the freedom to breathe or the freedom to exists. Not permitting freedom of speach is shading truth. It is this shading, or this resistance to what is, that allows freedom of speach to even exists. When everything is free there is no freedom of speach, theres just speach.

if i could write a letter in protest to anyone it would be to cj shultz, because his opinions are bias and one sided. he chooses to only see his own side to the "problem" of illegal imigration. im sorry cj but if you lived in a country with mud for water and got payed less than a dime an hour you would hop a fence too. it is because of people like you that freeedom of speech gets a bad rep.

If i could send a letter to anyone in the world, i would send President Bush a letter. It would say how were the richest country in the world but we cant get free health care like canadia. I think we should have it for free because most familys cant afford it.

If i could write a letter to anyone it would be Mark. I do agree with some of your points but it's it going to bit extreme to have health care become free. Who exactly is going to pay for all this free health care. Would you want to have you taxes raised to have free health care not just for you but for many other people? In this society you can't just get something for nothing people look for things like that but i have to say something for nothing is a myth.

if i could write any letter, i would write to whoever is in charge of our schools food. The prices have gone way up, which is getting expensive for all the students to pay. Ontop of that, soda, except diet, and candy were both removed from the schools cafeteria.

The one person I would write to who is in charge of the emergency exit in the front of the school being locked. Last year I liked when it was open because I could get a way from the crowd when I had to go to class in the library. When ever I had History right after lunch sometimes I was late and the teacher didn't like it. The hallways were too crowd and it took forever to get from the main floor to the second floor.

I think everyone here has their own opinion on what freedom of speech is and i think thats fine. I just think that freedom of speech should be towards the good of the American race. Even though we have the freedom of speech doesnt mean me can put down other contries. We want to be the mediators, the friendly country that other countries come to for help. When we have the freedom of speech dont use it to put down Asian people for looking funny, or for English people for having wierd accents, just respect every one as a whole like you would treat your parents, and you are using the rights of freedom of speech.

If I could write a letter to one person in the world it would be to Mr. Beers, telling him to not be so negative all the time. Everytime i see him in school, when hes not yelling at someone, he looks so angry and mad. Everyone should be optimistic and happy. There is no reason to be negative every single day.
